WHAT HAPPENS ON SUNDAY THE ORCHARD COMMUNITY WELCOME

Community Christmas Shoppe

Recap from the Ventura Christmas Shoppe
Saturday, December 13, 2014

Here are some statistics for this year:

Approximately 370 families shopped (575 adults and 805 children) for a total of 1380 people received food, games, prayer, pictures with Santa, music and the presence of God. A total of 1319 children where shopped for by a family member.
All of this occurred because of your generosity and the approximately 250 volunteers coming from all the churches that supported the shoppe this year.

Thank you for the generous support from the congregation at Orchard! There were an amazing amount of volunteers that helped this year to make it run so smoothly. Your generosity of toys given was amazing and a HUGE blessing to all!

Thank you!

Ventura Christmas Shoppe
Saturday, December 13, 2014

Join with area churches to sponsor the Ventura Christmas Shoppe, an outreach that provides new toys to families in need in the Ventura/Santa Paula area. Rather than simply giving families toys that we hope their children will like, we give the parents the opportunity to select toys that they know their children will enjoy. This allows parents to feel dignity while receiving help and provides them an opportunity to connect with other people in the community. This year’s Christmas Shoppe will be held right here at Orchard

How can you help?

• Donate new, unwrapped toys ($12.00 value or greater) for kids ages 0-17. Drop them in the toy collection boxes located in the Worship Building lobby on Sundays now through December 7 or in the church office during the week. The need for toys is crucial; 5,000 – 6,000 toys are needed to meet the needs of the families we serve. (You can also donate gift cards or wrapping paper.)

• Donate money for the purchase of toys and supplies. Checks should be made payable to ACTION with the notation on the memo line: Ventura Christmas Shoppe. Perhaps your small group could help by pooling funds to purchase a bigger toy or teenage gift.

• Donate your time by volunteering. Volunteers are needed for decorating, childcare, clean up, entertainment, shopper’s helpers, and hospitality, to name a few. Sign up on the patio after worship services or contact Lauri Kail at laurikail822@gmail.com.

• Consider taking a collection box to work or ask your favorite business to host a box. Contact Ericka Bigger at ventura.xmasshop@yahoo.com

Make a difference in the lives of families this Christmas by showing the love of Christ and offering God’s greatest gift to the world—His son, the Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Ventura Christmas Shoppe, along with Port Hueneme, Thousand Oaks, and Simi Valley Christmas Shoppes, are sponsored by ACTION (Area Churches Taking Initiative On Needs) which brings together volunteers from Ventura County churches to serve local low income families all year long.
