A Generous Spirit
2014 Stewardship Campaign
Nov. 2, 2014: “In the Image of God” (Our Identity)
Genesis. 1:26-27, Acts 17:24-25, John. 3:16 and various texts. We are made in the image of God, and God is generous. Giving is a spiritual practice that helps us live more deeply into the image of God and become more fully the people we were created to be.
Nov. 9, 2014: “A Heart For God” (Our Character)
Matthew 6:9-14. God calls us to set our hearts on Him, not on money and possessions. Giving is a spiritual practice that shapes our character and helps us to set our hearts on God.
Nov. 16, 2014: “Partners with God” (Our Intentions)
2 Corinthians. 9:6-15. A key reason we give of our time, talents and finances is to partner with God in what He is doing in this world. Giving is a spiritual practice that helps shape our intentions bringing them more in line with what God wants.
Nov. 23, 2014: “Approaching God” (Our Attitude)
Luke. 21:1-4, 2 Corinthians. 9:7, I Thessalonians. 5:18. As we approach God seeking to give our gifts and tithes, our attitude should be characterized by things such as humility, sacrifice, joy and gratitude. Giving is a spiritual practice that provides us with an opportunity to adjust our attitude to God and all He has done for us.
