Flip-Flop, Food & Fiesta!
Local Outreach Summer Collection Drive
Flip-Flop
Beginning July 10, and culminating on July 31, we will be collecting flip-flops for men and women who are being released from the Ventura County Jail. When the people are released they are given a pair of flip-flops. The supply now is VERY low and the jail Chaplain is requesting the donation of flip-flops. So as you and your family buy flip flops for yourselves this summer, please get an extra pair or two for those that are reentering society.
Food
We also will be collecting food for the Project Understanding Food Pantry. Even though we do this all year, summer is an especially low time for food donations. We can make a difference. We will have some barrels available for you to bring your donations on July 17, 24 and 31. Preferred items are canned meats, vegetables and fruit, healthy cereal and other dry boxed goods. Nut butters and Jam, spaghetti and meat sauce are also great donations. This is a wonderful way for you, your family or small group to shop together as you give to others.
Fiesta
On July 31 to celebrate and get ready to deliver the food and flip flops, we will have the opportunity to once again make 1,000 Breakfast-in-a-Baggie for those that are without a home. This is fun! So plan to stay for bit after the service for making the breakfast in a bag and enjoying fiesta snacks.
