Unbelieve
Things we need to stop believing... Pastor Matt Hoyt
Aug 25 - Follow Your Heart
Jeremiah 17:9, Ecclesiastes 9:3, Mark 7:21-23, 1 John 3:20, Matthew 4:18-21, 16:24, 2 Timothy 3:16
This saying is mostly false. Our hearts are terrible guilds at times and we are not called to follow hearts, but to follow God.
Sep 01 - Everything Happens for a Reason
This saying is often used to mean that God causes all things to happen which is untrue. Many bad things happen in this world and they are not of God, but God can even use the bad things for good.
Communion Sunday
Sep 08 - God Won’t Give You More Than You Can Handle
This saying is a misquote of the Bible and is not true, many people in the Bible were confronted with more than they could handle. Further, God may, in fact, give us more than we can handle in order to teach us to rely on Him.
Sep 15 - People are Basically Good
This saying is false. It’s not that there is no good in anyone, there is some good in all of us, but that at our core we are not truly good, but sinful.
Sep 22 - God Wants Me to be Happy
Mark 1:15, Matthew 22:34-40, Romans 12:17, John14:15, Luke 6:46, Matthew 5:1-12.
This saying is partly true, it’s just that happiness is not the highest good. God calls us to many more important things first. However, God does want us to be happy, but a different kind of happy than the world has in mind.

Oct 06 - Money is the Root of All Evil
This saying is a misquote of the Bible, money is not the root of all evil, but the love of money is indeed the root of much evil. Money is not good or bad, it’s what we do with it that matters.
Oct 13 - God Helps those Who Help Themselves and Everything You Need is Inside of You
These sayings are mostly false. A key truth of the Bible is that God helps those who cannot help themselves because we do not have everything we need inside of us. However, God does call us to work with Him and do our part.
Oct 20 - Guest Preacher: Cody Schulze
Today we will be taking a break from this message series and our Youth Director, Cody Schulze, will be sharing the Good News with us!
God created us in his own image which has many important aspects to it, one of which is that we were designed to be in relationship. We will be taking a look at the different types of relationships God designed us for and seeking to be impacted by that.
Oct 27 - Why do Bad Things Happen to Good People?
“God Must Have Needed Another Angel”
This saying is false. We do not become angels, we are distinct and wonderful creations of God. Further, does not “need” anything, not even us, but we need Him.
“Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?”
This question is misguided. For one thing, no one is truly good and the Bible does not promise that bad things won’t happen. However, the Bible does promise that God will be with us and help us.
