Counterculture
The Book of Daniel We live in a culture that is often foreign and hostile to our faith. The book of Daniel is a collection of stories and prophecies written about Jewish believers living in the hostile foreign land of Babylon during the Exile. Therefore, the book of Daniel can teach us a lot about standing firm and living faithfully counter to the culture in which we find ourselves.
We live in a world that is constantly seeking to shape us and the church in its image, but our call is to be counterculture by seeking to be conformed to the image of Christ.
We are called to be counterculture by standing firm on our faith and seeking to love God in the midst of an unfaithful world.
As people of faith, we are called to be counterculture by trusting in the true wisdom of God not the faulty wisdom of the world.
At times there will be a price to pay for standing firm in our faith counter to our culture, but if we do, God is faithful and will take care of us no matter what happens.
As people of faith, we are called to humility before God and as a way of life with others, counter to our culture of arrogance and pride.
