Jul 04 - Freedom from…

Galatians 5:1, Romans 8:1-2, Hebrews 10:2, Romans 10:11, Hebrews 9:15

As Americans, we highly value our freedom, but as people of faith, we know that the greatest freedom we have is our freedom in Christ, freedom from sin, death, guilt, and shame; freedom bought at a high price.

Freedom in Christ ThumbnailRomans 6:22, Ephesian 3:12, 1 Peter 2:16, Galatians 5:13, Galatians 5:1

As people of faith, we have freedom in Christ, but that freedom is not so that we can go do whatever we want, it’s a freedom to live God’s way, to serve Him, and to serve others in his name.

Jul 18 - Made New

Today’s Message by Cody Schulze, Orchard’s Youth Director.

2 corinthians 5:15-17

When we walk with Christ we are made into new creations. Our thoughts, feelings, and actions are shaped by the new life we have in Christ and the ways in which we used to live are left behind.

Today’s Message by Wes Haystead

Wes Haystead

1 Kings 19:1-10

When the greatest of the Old Testament prophets hit the low point of his life, he felt abandoned by God. All of us have times when God seems very far away. We can all learn from Elijah’s experience when he fled from Queen Jezebel.

Selfies Message by Pastor Matt Hoyt

Our Self Image in Christ

Selfies are all the rage these days.  A selfie is a picture you take of yourself, it’s an image of yourself.  And sometimes we feel good about the selfies we take, other times not so much, similar to the way we often struggle with our actual self-image. With this series, we’ll be taking a look at how we should understand our self-image as people who are in Christ!

Aug 01 - Created: Well Made by God

Genesis 1:27, Psalm 139:13-15, Matthew 6:26, I John 4:9-11, 2 Corinthians 5:7

God created you in His image, you are well made, valued, loved, and made new in Christ. These things should be at the core of how you understand yourself as opposed to the many destructive messages about who you are in this world, and sometimes, even in our own minds.

Aug 08 - Adopted: Wanted by God

Matthew 4:19, 11:28, John 1:12, Galatians 4:4-5, Romans 8:17

You are wanted by God.  God didn’t make you and walk away leaving you on your own.  God wants to know you and have a relationship with you, one that so deep it’s like family.  God wants to adopt you so that you are His child and a part of His family forever!

Aug 15 - Accepted 1: Received by God with Mercy

Romans 3:23, 6:23, Hebrews 1:8-9, Jeremiah 5:11b, 1 Timothy 1:16, Titus 3:4-6

You are accepted by God because He is a God of mercy.  God receives you with compassion and kindness that you do not deserve and doesn’t give you the consequences of your sin that you do deserve.  Mercy is a sign that you’re accepted and loved and not just when you’re at your best, but even when you’re at your worst.

Aug 22 - Accepted 2: Received by God with Grace

1 Peter 5:10, Ephesians 2:8-9, I John 1:9, Philippians 4:12-14, 2 Corinthians 12:9

God accepts you because He is a God of grace. God receives you as someone He simply likes. loves, forgives, and saves because that’s who and how He is!  God’s grace also repairs the damage sin does to our relationship with Him and gives us a fresh start.
